Ashley Johnstone - Lighting Designer

Ashley is a lighting designer based out of San Diego, California specializing primarily in theatrical and dance lighting design, but with experience in film and television lighting, and lighting for corporate events. 

 

Since receiving her MFA from San Diego State University she has been working for local entertainment design company, Nautilus Entertainment Design, as associate lighting designer.  Primarily working in corporate shows and events, she has been involved in many shows for Hewlett Packard and General Motors, as well as being very heavily involved with the lighting design for Qualcomm’s 25th Anniversary Museum at Qualcomm’s San Diego campus. The museum won the 2011-2012 Illumination Engineering Soceity, San Diego Region, Edwin F. Guth Award for Interior Lighting Design for "Commendable Achievement in Lighting Design."

 

Besides working for Nautilus Entertainment Design, Ashley has worked for many other companies in the greater San Diego area including The Old Globe Theatre, the La Jolla Playhouse, Cygnet Theatre, Mallashock Dance, and San Diego Dance Theater.  She has also been the lighting designer for Hammond Studio of Dance 2007 to 2011, and Royal Dance Studio since the summer of 2011.

Nautilus Entertainment Design

Ashley is currently working as a Staff Lighting Designer for Nautilus Entertainment Design, a San Diego based entertainment design and consulting firm. Her primary project throught the year is working on the GM Exhibits at the Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, and New York Auto Shows.
